- A High Five To Get The Party Going
Well lookie here, lookie here, you good ole blogger friend, Keith stayed true to his word. I promised you guys a part 2 on Monday and by golly, here it is! Let’s just ignore the fact that Monday only has a few hours left in it, and focus on the fact that this post is up for your reading enjoyment, lol. Thanks to my incredibly horrible internet connection, the previous statement is no longer valid, smh. I swear I hate Century Link and their crappy service, so much so, that I just said screw it and paid the cancelation fee at this very moment! Really? 5 hours to upload 3 one min videos to YouTube? What is this, AOL dialup? Sorry, my rant is complete now, let’s move on.
So last time, I made our time at Disney World seem pretty dreary; but I promise you that it was literally one of the most magical experiences that any parent could hope for. The look on Tre’s face when he saw Mickey for the first time nearly brought a tear to my eye, and trust me that’s tough to do, I’m a super tough macho manly guy! Okay, Fefe’s sitting over my shoulder and demanded that I refrain from lying in my posts; I’m not that tough and maybe, that statement about “nearly bringing a tear to my eye” should have been “cried a river”. Seriously folks, I have never seen that child as happy and excited as he was during our time at Disney World, and for those of you that know Tre, that is a hell of a statement to make: the kid is constantly happy.
Does this look like a magical time???
So we all know that Disney World is a magical place where memories are made; a place where dreams come true, right? Yup, that’s what they communicate and advertise on all of the brochures, commercials, and emails. But what they fail to inform you of is the fact that along with those dreams also comes nightmares, blisters, and empty bank accounts. I totally had every intention of writing this post on the plane ride back home from Disney, yet here we are a complete 2 weeks later and the post is just now going up. Clearly, I was either delusional or naive to think that I would have the strength and mental capacity to write a blog post during a plane ride after spending 6 nights, 7 days (that’s travel agent speak) at Disney World. But never in my wildest dreams (or nightmares) did I anticipate a 2 week turnaround time to get back to my normal self. I know by now you must be wondering: was it all worth it? Read on to find out.

The Laziest Lion's I've Ever Met
One of the major highlights of our recent trip back to Buffalo wasn’t even encountered in Buffalo. That probably comes as no big surprise to any of my readers that know Buff on a more intimate basis. For fun and thrills we traveled all the way to good ole Canada, and embarked on a mystical journey (eh – Canada speak) thru a treacherous jungle. There were ferocious lions, tigers, and bears oh my (wait, that’s the wrong tagline, this isn’t Ringling Bros.), we had to fight off rabid monkey’s (wait, that was the new Planet of the Apes movie), and finally we danced with wolves; clearly I’ve been away from blogging for so long that I’m confusing fiction with my real life. Bear (another animal reference) with me as I shake off the cobwebs and recap our trip to the African Lion Safari.

Class Of '01'
So I survived!!! The 10 year high school reunion has passed and I made it through in one piece. There were no wedgies, no swirlies, and no cakings (It’s a Hutch Tech thing), there was just fun and good times to be had by all. These are all heinous activities that you would expect to take place during high school and not 10 years later right? Well I was under the same train of thought as well until my Mom decided to be a bit mischievous. You see, I wasn’t the nicest guy in high school and some of those pranks I listed above (and worse) were pulled off quite frequently by your local resident blogger. A few days before the reunion my Mom and Fefe started ganging up on me, they told me I better watch my back, check bathroom stalls before entering, and ensure there’s always a clear path to the nearest exit. You see how mean and evil the people that I love can be?
This Is Where I'm From
So today is my first day back to work, both in real life and on this blog. After an 11 day hiatus, I must admit, it was extremely tough getting back into the swing of things. But alas, here I am blogging my little heart out; ready to spill all the gory details regarding our recent trip to the mean streets of Buffalo, NY. After 3 years of being away from my hometown, a 10 year high school reunion presented the perfect excuse for a return trip back. The reunion was the reason that brought us back to Buff, but surely wasn’t the only thing we had on our agenda during our stay. I’ll be doing a series of short posts detailing the various aspects of our trip, so be sure to check back regularly to ensure you don’t miss any of the excitement. The first post in the series will be about my experience at my 10 year high school reunion, click the link to check it out. But before you do, be sure to check out the 10 most important things that I learned from this recent trip to my hometown.
1. Buffalo has changed a lot
2. Buffalo hasn’t changed at all
3. You can’t make up for 3yrs in 8 days. There will inevitably be some people that you don’t get to see
4. Moms cooking can erase 4months of weight loss in one quick week
5. Strip Clubs can be very dangerous places
6. As an aging adult, 4am is now waaaayyyy too late for bars & clubs to stay open
7. $2000 is not too much to pay for plane tickets to avoid a 16hr car ride with a 6 & 3yr old
8. Long distance grandparents are the best babysitters in the world
9. High School class reunions aren’t as popular as they once were
And last but not least
10. There is no place like home (I just can’t stay there for extended periods of time)
Ready For Santa
Since this is the last day of the first week of the New Year (wow, that’s a mouthful), I figured, that it’s the last opportunity to share a quick holiday re-cap with you guys. I didn’t blog much over the holidays and during that time we had Christmas, Tre’s Birthday, and New Years. I wouldn’t be much of a Daddy Blogger if I didn’t share the share a few highlights from these events. Of the three holidays that occurred during my vacation, I’d have to say Christmas was my favorite. We had a ball celebrating each of the days, but for some reason Christmas was pure comedy from start to finish, so let’s start there.

So you know how the old saying goes: “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas”. Well, you guys know me, I don’t abide by those rules, my life is an open book for you, the reader, and Vegas is no exception. So I’m getting ready to give you all the nitty gritty, down & dirty details of my recent Vegas trip! And I do mean everything. Prostitutes, check! Vegas scams, check! Staying up until the wee hours of the night, check!!! This trip was one to be remembered, unfortunately not for the typical reasons that you may think.

This weekend we did the unthinkable, we ditched our kids and hit the road for a weekend of fun and excitement. We were childless parents and it felt great! No diapers to change, no monster trucks to play with, no responsibility what so ever. There lies the problem, its been so long since we’ve had the opportunity to look after only ourselves that when it came, we didn’t know how to act. That’s why I have come to the conclusion that parents need kids, it keeps balance in our lives. We regulate their actions and in return regulate our own because we know in the morning, they’ll be there and they’ll be ready for action.

The Kids on the Luggage Cart
This past weekend we took our first “real” family vacation together. We went to Wrightsville Beach in Wilmington, NC and stayed at the Marriott in continuation of Fefe’s birthday celebration. Don’t get me wrong, we’ve gone on family vacations before but it’s always been to visit friends or family. This is the first time we’ve gone to a destination specifically for the purpose of visiting an event or attraction at that location.
