All Packed & Ready To Go

All Packed & Ready To Go

Fefe & Tre come back to Minneapolis tonight, FOR GOOD this time and I thought it was only fitting to share with you the story of Tre’s first plane ride, train ride, and (Minnesota)car ride; which took place a little over a month ago when we made the trip to Minneapolis for the first time (and what we thought was the last time).  It was actually his second plane ride, but seeing as how he was only a few months old for the first one, I think this trip qualifies as his (un)official first trip on an airplane.

As with everything that Tre is involved in, associated with, or a part of, his plane ride was full of spectacle, laughter, drama, and pretty much plain ole pure entertainment.  So sit back, kick your feet up and get prepared to enjoy the Tre Variety Hour (or 15 mins in this case).

AMF Kids Bowl Free Summer Event

With Memorial Day Weekend basically staring us in the face (how many of you are at work staring at the clock right now, probably reading this post just to pass the time until the party begins!), anyway, like I was saying, with Memorial Day Weekend pretty much front and center, I felt that today was the perfect time to blog about this ultra cool deal.  After you read this post, you’ll probably want to offer me your next born child, but rest assured, I’m doing this out of the kindness of my heart;  although, monetary gifts are surely welcome.  Read on to be dazzled, be wowed, be amazed by the deal that’s sure to provide tons of fun for you and your family at absolutely no cost at all.  Oh yeah, by the way, in place of monetary gifts, I’ll settle for you naming your next child “Keith”, boy or girl, it doesn’t matter, I’m not picky.

Sleeping Beauty, umm Sleeping Handsome maybe???

Sleeping Beauty, umm Sleeping Handsome maybe???

Okay, so maybe “overcome the odds” is a bit much for the actual content of this post, but in a way, it is actually pretty fitting.  That’s because Tre did overcome the odds; the odds of having an overdramatic Dad who didn’t take time out to think about his actions before actually acting on them.  If you’re a bit confused, don’t worry, things are about to become clear in 3…2…1 remember this post: “A Horrifying Fairy Tale”? Yup that one, the one were I got a little too involved with my bedtime story duties.  If you recall, my Big Bad Wolf was just a little too big and bad for Tre’s liking.  It took Tre a while to overcome my debacle, but eventually the “Three Little Pigs” became his favorite book, replacing “Jack and the Beanstalk” completely.  In fact, he’s listened to the book so much that we no longer have to read it to him, he takes care of that these days.  Check it out!

My Gifts, Hand Picked By Fefe & The Boys

My Gifts, Hand Picked By Fefe & The Boys

I honestly wanted to get this post done and completed yesterday, really I did.  But due to unforeseen circumstances, that wasn’t possible.  Okay, maybe the circumstances were foreseen.  Maybe I knew I’d be getting drunk beyond belief, partying until the wee hours of the morning, and partaking in all types of unscrupulous activities, which required days of recovery time.  Okay, so it wasn’t that bad, but when you get to be my age (33yrs old), your body just doesn’t allow you to party like the good ole days.  If you’re wondering where I got the age of 33 from, it was derived from an age-old formula that us parents call Child Aging Compound Interest or C.A.C.I. for short.  You basically add up the ages of all of your kids, then divide by the number of children (because once you have more than one, leveraging comes into play) and then add that number to your current age.  Now let’s see if DFB has any math wiz readers…who can tell me my true age???  Anyway, let’s get to the meat and potatoes of this post; my freaking birthday!!!!  Well, it actually starts before my birthday, because Tre had a few funny antics to share while picking out my present.

The Family-less Family Man

Today is my first day of work, which means I’ve been in Minneapolis a little under a week now. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few weeks (okay, maybe it’s not that prolific), then you know that I had to leave my family behind while I sorted out our living situation. Doing so has made these past 5 days feel like an eternity, but we’ve been managing fairly well so far & I’ve even wrangled a few funny tales concerning the kids and their “unique” ways of dealing with my departure. We’ve got betrayal, deceit, jealousy, and even murder people. Oh yes, a lot has gone on since I departed from my family, and if you thought that Daddy’s Fish Bowl was going to be any less spectacular than it’s been throughout the last year, then you are sorely mistaken. So go ahead, get your popcorn ready & sit back while I take you on this journey through the life of the family-less family man.

Emotions Running Rampant

Tre Pretending To Be Sad

Tre Pretending To Be Sad

No, no, no, this isn’t another pitiful plea regarding my depression brought on by leaving my family behind temporarily; lucky for you, right? Instead, this is the story of a little boy; a little boy named Tre, who has recently discovered the true potential of his emotions and how to harness their power to his advantage.  This kid has taken the term “guilt trip” and elevated its meaning tenfold.  During these past few weeks, Tre has been using his keen grasp of internal feelings to catapult himself to the top of the emotional food chain.  But today, I say enough is enough and I take a stand to regain control of my toddler without feeling guilty about it.

Imitation Of Life (UPDATED)

Notice Anything Different?

Notice Anything Different?

Typically, I open these posts by beating around the bush, starting out with rudimentary questions and examples, ending on a cliffhanger and letting the situation unfold as the post goes on. Well I’m not going to do that today, I’m just gonna get straight to the point. That point is: Tre got his ear pierced this weekend. Yeah it looks cute, yeah he really loves it, and yeah he took the procedure like a champ. But none of that really matters. The only thing that matters in this story is the ‘why’ he got his ear pierced. The reason why he got it pierced can strictly be attributed to the imitation of life.

A Hoarder & His Stuff

A Hoarder & His Stuff

For most people, breaking up is hard to do.  Whether it’s breaking up with a lover, a close friend, or a trusted colleague, it is never an easy task.  But what about breaking up with personal belongings?  Is that just as difficult as breaking up with a person?  If you ask Tre, his answer will most certainly be YES!  This past weekend, in preparation for our big move, we attacked out attic, as evidenced in the above photo.  During this 2-3 hour marathon cleaning session, we found old toys, old clothes, old pictures, pretty much just all things old!  But for one member of our family, old meant new and this daunting task turned out to be a 1940’s gold rush for him

(UN)Lucky Number 5

They say a man with no scars is no man at all...Welcome to Manliness Tre

My favorite number is the number 5.  I don’t know why, it just is.  There isn’t anything special about the number 5, it’s just a number that I like and if you ask me my favorite number, the answer will always be 5.  Tre on the other hand probably won’t respond in the same way.  You see, I love the number 5 even though I have no true reason to do so, but Tre now has exactly 5 reasons to hate that number and I wouldn’t blame him if he did.

Little Tikes Auto Pitch Batting Trainer – Toy Review

Tre’s Thursday Toy Review 2-24-11
Little Tikes Auto Pitch Batting Trainer

Name: Little Tikes Auto Pitch Batting Trainer

Manufacturer: Little Tikes

Price: $27.99

Length of Ownership: 3 months

Rating: 5 stars

Toy Review: This toy is phenomenal!!! With an opening statement like that, I better have some evidence to back it up right?  Well, just look at the video, Tre’s enthusiasm shows bright and clear, and trust me folks, that wasn’t an act for the camera.  We’ve had this toy since Christmas and he has literally played with it every day with the same level of excitement shown in the video.  He loves it and I love Little Tikes for producing it, since we’ve had such a great time playing with it together.

Let’s get into a few specifics; as you can see, the auto pitcher is a 2in1 Tball set.  It acts as a standalone Tee, and once your child is ready to move up to the big leagues, it transforms into a pitching device, GENIUS!!!  It comes equipped with 5 balls as well as a plastic bat, all of the equipment required to train the next Barry Bonds comes packed with this set.

The standard Tball portion acts as advertised, really no bells and whistles here, but it gets the job done.  Where Little Tikes really shines is when the toy is switched over to auto pitch mode, a transition that is seamless by the way.  In auto pitch mode, the pitcher gives a countdown in the form of beeps to let your child know that the ball is about to come out.  After the last beep, the ball flies into the air and your kid can swing their little hearts out.  The speed is just right for a up and coming toddler and the height is perfect. What more could you ask for?

This toy is Tre tested and Daddy Approved! Buy It Now!!!
