Who would have thought that these would be so valuable
How many times have you received a gift that you just didn’t want? I mean one that was so bad, you actually considered giving it back to the person who gave it to you? Now that’s a pretty bold move, considering it’s the thought that counts. Returning a gift to someone basically says not only does your gift suck, but I also don’t care much about your feelings. Who would be so callous to do such a thing? You guessed it, I would! I have done it, and probably shouldn’t be so smug about my actions. The gift giver was my mother.
Since this is the last day of the first week of the New Year (wow, that’s a mouthful), I figured, that it’s the last opportunity to share a quick holiday re-cap with you guys. I didn’t blog much over the holidays and during that time we had Christmas, Tre’s Birthday, and New Years. I wouldn’t be much of a Daddy Blogger if I didn’t share the share a few highlights from these events. Of the three holidays that occurred during my vacation, I’d have to say Christmas was my favorite. We had a ball celebrating each of the days, but for some reason Christmas was pure comedy from start to finish, so let’s start there.
Welcome back for day two of Daddy’s Fish Bowl’s Holiday Tradition Extravaganza!!! I always wanted to throw my own extravaganza; it’s such an awesome word. Today’s tradition is family Christmas photos. With the age of digital photography becoming more and more important in our society, I’ve found it difficult to maintain paper copies of our pictures. Just yesterday, I found a family photo album that had not been updated in almost 3 years. Since paper photos have become such a burden, we’ve always made a point to take family pictures around Christmas time to ensure that we have something tangible to pass out to family and friends. This practice works out pretty well and even though it’s a bit outdated, I think we’ll keep it going for quite some time.
Are you guys in full blown Christmas spirit mode yet? I know that I am, Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year, it’s been that way for as long as I can remember and I hope to make it the same for my children. We have several family traditions that we partake in each year around the holiday season, so this week I’d like to spend some time sharing those traditions with you and hopefully hearing some of your own family traditions.
So we’ve reached day two of the annual holiday gift guides here at Daddy’s Fish Bowl. Today’s gifts will feature something for all of those gadget lovers out there (I’m looking at you Dads). But there’s a little something different about this list, what’s different is I didn’t write it, muuhhaaaaaaa!!!!! I was going to make one of my own and then I noticed that my good buddies over at The Gallant had already done a superb job and putting together a gadget list. So naturally I decided to steal it, just be sure to keep this between us, I definitely don’t want those guys mad at me.
While you’re over there, be sure to poke around, The Gallant has a ton of great stuff for you to check out. It’s an online magazine that specializes in music, fashion, technology, and everything under the sun. It’s pretty cool and I’m sure you’ll find something of interest to you over there.
Hello all, it’s that time again. In the spirit of Black Friday coming up, this weeks posts will be dedicated to holiday gift guides. There will be a separate guide for toddlers, kids and gadgets (courtesy of The Gallant). The gift guides will feature some items that the boys already own, as well as items that we plan to purchase for them this Christmas. The items are in no special order, they are all gifts that I find interesting and think the kids will enjoy playing with. Okay, so it’s no big secret that I’m a momma’s boy, but if you had my Mom, you would be too. This woman has always been there for me, sacrificed and dedicated her life to enriching my own. In my 27 years on this earth she has never let me down, and that’s not something I can say about anyone else I’ve grown to know over the years. That’s a pretty tall order there, 27 years is a long time to never disappoint someone, almost impossible even. I mean, I’ve disappointed people within the first 5 minutes of meeting them, so to have a 27 year streak really says something about a person’s character. That’s why I’m proud to be a momma’s boy and will gladly except any ridicule that comes along with it.
Today is my Mom’s birthday and I’ll be busy ensuring that she knows how much we appreciate her all day long. I’ve got a long list of surprises lined up for her, and the first was this short, simple, blog post to wish her Happy Birthday and let the world know that she’s the BEST!!!!!

Another year, another successful Halloween; just look at all the candy I get to rummage through, I mean that the kids get to rummage through. I’m not a big candy fan, although my latest dentist visit would try to convince you otherwise; 8 cavities, how in the hell do you get 8 cavities? Anyways, I digress. Halloween was awesome again this year, actually better than last year in my humble opinion. We had a great time and this year Tre REALLY got into the spirit and participated. If you can remember from ***last year***, all it took was a sucker to end his trick or treating, well this year he was going for the gusto and wasn’t giving up until he was good and ready. Ty on the other hand was more focused on being scary this year than obtaining the candy collectors gold medal.
Disclaimer: No children were wasted during the duration of this party. lol
Today is the birthday of someone very special. Do you know whose it is? If you guessed Ty, then you’re absolutely right. Now take a moment to wish him a Happy Birthday, I’ll wait….
Wow, so today is August 6, 2010 and that means that it has been one complete year since my first post here at Daddy’s Fish Bowl. Now normally I would make a huge deal out of this, pop champagne, and break out the noise makers. You guys would send all types of lavish gifts to congratulate me on my 1 year blogversary and we would all party like it’s 1999 (wait, is that saying still relevant?) Well hold on to all of your presents because I’m not making a big stink about it due to the fact that I took a 6 month hiatus. It doesn’t really seem proper to celebrate an anniversary if you’ve only been together half of the year. So today is just another regular day in the blogosphere for me. Maybe next year we can have a party.
Don’t get all down and out just yet however, because today is special for a much greater reason. Today is Fefe’s birthday, so that’s more than reason enough to party and celebrate!!! So with that said, I’m going to step away from the computer and go enjoy some quality time with my wife for her birthday. As a parting gift, I leave you with an original poem that I wrote and “performed” for her, which describes how truly special she is.
