@Melisa with one S, since I wrote the post, he's been walking around singing songs in Spanish now. Rosetta Stone is gonna be for me, so that I can stay one step ahead of him. I never thought of a "jump start Spanish" program, but I think it's something we'll be checking into this weekend. Thanks for the tip.

@Deborah, I think that's a GREAT idea! If he's showing interest in something, then I should have a good understanding of the subject so that I can guide him. Only thing, I'll be pissed if I put in the effort to learn something & then the next week he's "on to the next one", lol.

Please encourage that! These days knowing a second language puts you ahead of the game. If you get Rosetta Stone for yourself and keep him learning Spanish through his toys, you guys will eventually have a "secret language". I'm sure you will use that to your advantage for future stories in your life. Lmao.

But why not take this opportunity and learn for him. That's what my dad always did. Whatever I wanted to do he would learn about it and teach me. That's what happened with sports, especially basketball. I believe, if I wanted to play soccer he would have gotten a couple of books and made me a soccer star.

I agree with your mom. I'm not surprised at how smart he is either. It runs on both sides of the family.

JUMP ON THAT, Dude!!!

You don't have to get Rosetta Stone (a 21-mo. old trying to figure that out makes a funny thought in my head) but there should be a "Jump Start Spanish" program out there, or something comparable. Kids pick up foreign languages much quicker than adults do...go to the store now!!!!! (haha, if you want to)

I am not surprised that he is so smart. He has a loving family. His parents are always reading books or learning something new daily. That kind of thing really rubs off on children. They see their parents doing it and it becomes normal behavior to them. As far as the Spanish speaking goes......well u did give him a Spanish nickname, somaybe one he thinks he is part spanish!!! lol...He probably likes the way it sounds in Spanish because it is differrent from what he is use to. Ir Tre!!! (Spanish for Go Tre - I looked it up!) lol
