My husband and sons LOVE geocaching. They've found a bunch locally, but whenever we leave town for the weekend or something, they look up the geocaches in the area we're traveling to, to see if they might be able to find some there, too! .-= Melisa with one S´s last blog ..I Can't Drive 55 =-.

Why wait?? If you have three finds already, then you have three letters… I waited too… but then all I did was go back into my previous “finds” to fill in the letters…

@Father of five, Just checked out your site, only 3 more to go to complete the alphabet huh. Good luck on your quest, that seems like a pretty cool idea. Maybe I'll try it once my skills have increased a bit.

@teamvoyagr, I think that's an awesome saying and is 100% true. I like it: "I geocache for the find, my kids geocache for the treasure they find!"

@Ola, Wow that's pretty neat that she's so interested in it! Our 20 month old is kind of oblivious to it right now, he just enjoys trekking around outside! Good talking to someone from Norway! I hope you stop by again.

@John, glad to know that I wasn't alone with the follow the dot theory, lol. Also good to know that a "no find" shouldn't really disappoint my boys too much. I checked out your vid and man, the look on your face after finding the cache was identical to mines. It really felt great finding that first one didn't it.

That is the absolute truth, everything is video games and TV these days, so its definitely refreshing to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.

You mentioned Geocaching events? I haven’t heard of these, I’ll have to look into it more.

Hello there,

I just read your letter about you and your son geocaching.

First off, that was a great story.
Secondly, anytime that you can get kids outdoors (espically in this technology days) is always great.

We started caching back in Mar/09 and we try to cache as a family every chance we can. Every chance we can we get out for some caching and we are starting to go to a lot of events now. Events are great as you get to meet other cachers and lean new things about this great new hobby. You can teach the kids so much about nature while walking through the woods while looking for treasures.

I hope that you and your family enjoy geocaching and most importantly, spending time together as a family.

I would love to try something like this with Shaniah. Thanks for the great idea. Alright, I’ll be honest; I’m a city girl to the core so navigating through the woods is a little scary to me. Maybe her dad should take her.
