I grew up on “pop” up here in Minnesota… And it was not until later in life that I heard “soda” used… (and by “later in life” – I mean around the age of 10 or so)…

I have a sister and a sister in law that lived in D/FW Texas… and quickly learned that there, it is neither pop or soda. It’s called Coke. You are supposed to ask “what kind of Coke do you have” – and the answer is 7up, Mountain Dew, Pepsi… Pepsi Coke?? What the heck is that??

One other thing I do not understand… How any ADULT with ANY common sense would tell a kid “no, we dont have any pop, but we do have soda”…

Come on now… If a kid asked me what kind of “pop”, “soda”, or “coke” I was offering… I could figrue it out!!! (snicker)

Coming from Virginia, I usually say soda. I have heard both because I have relatives from Ohio. Since waiters push the wine and beer on you so quickly when you're seated at a restaurant, a lot of times I just ask what "soft drinks" they offer. .-= prestonk´s last blog ..The end of summer/The beginning of fall =-.

Well the results are in and it looks like POP is the winner!!! Maybe I fudged the numbers to come to this conclusion, but so what, pop forever!!!!

LOL, I’ll probably end up letting the boys call it soda as we are in a soda rich area. But I’ll never make the switch myself.

@Tanisha, Tanisha U have disappointed me, lol. I have converted over from Texas Pete to Franks Hot sauce, Dukes Mayo to Miracle Whip and I refuse to to switch from calling it Soda to POP, lol. I think it is Keith's turn to switch now.
