Welcome to the site, thanks for visiting Daddy’s Fish Bowl.  Now, I’d recommend that you take a moment for yourself, sit back, take in your surroundings and make a mental note of where you are at this very moment.  You’ll want to tuck this away safely in your memory banks.  Because when the site blows up and is featured on Forbes magazine, you’ll want to know EXACTLY where you were when you read the first post of DaddysFishBowl.com.  You’ll be able to tell your kids and grandkids all about it in the future and they will marvel at the fact that you were here in the very beginning.

Now that I’m off my soapbox, I seriously want to thank you for taking the time to give me a read.  I hope you enjoy and come back daily to see what I have to offer.

I have to start off by recognizing that today, Aug 6th, 2009 is not only the launch date of this site but also my wife’s birthday!  So this is being considered as a small birthday gift to her.  Happy Birthday Babe, hope you enjoy your day and the site!  Be sure to send her a bday shout out on Twitter here or Facebook here.

I’d like to share a story with you regarding my experience of family withdrawl.  Didn’t know that there was such a thing did you? Me either until yesterday.  Fefe & the kids embarked on a treacherous journey to the good ol state of Virginia yesterday.  Well it wasn’t really treacherous in any way but it sounds good right?  This was an unplanned trip, but her sister really needed her assistance so she agreed.

This road trip would have been perfectly fine had it taken place in the morning, you know while I’m at work, but instead it didn’t begin until 2hrs before I got off from work.  In case you don’t know, Virginia is about 3.5hrs away from where we live.  So let’s take a little time to do some 1st grade math shall we? 3.5hrs each way equals 7hrs total driving then add in 30mins to handle business in Virginia and we’re up to 7.5hrs total, if you subtract the 2hrs that I still had at work this leaves us with… did you get the right answer? Come on, I know your math isn’t that bad, okay I’ll tell you its 5.5hrs that my family would be away from me.  I figured hey, cool 5.5hrs, no sweat.  I can handle it, finally some alone time; no nagging wife, no crying kid, no playing children board games.  This has got to be the life right? WRONG!!!

About 30mins after arriving home to an empty house I found myself calling my wife asking for progress updates, trying to calculate the exact time of their arrival back to me.  I was baffled, it just didn’t make sense, I just got rid of them why am I so concerned with when they’d be returning?

As the hours went on, I was jonsing for the return of my family.  Calling Fefe every 30 mins asking how much longer, akin to children in the backseat of a car during a road trip (Are we there yet?) I felt as if she was my dope dealer and wasn’t bringing my product fast enough.  As it got closer to the calculated arrival time, I began checking the window after every car that passed by the house.  I don’t fully understand my rationale here, clearly I was in constant communication with Fefe and knew they were delayed and still had hours before getting home, but none of that mattered I still had hope that my family would mysteriously be teleported home by the time that I predicted.

I can now empathize with addicts and the irrational behavior that they often display when their next fix is late.  My fix was late and it was driving me crazy!  Eventually, at 12:30AM my family arrived and I was able to return to my cool, calm, and collective self.  But not without a new understanding and appreciation for the time I get to spend with my family everyday.  One thing is clear to me now: I am addicted to my family and I need my hit everyday.

GREAT JOB!!! fefe’s dad here or Nessa as we call her,
I too was worried about her return, not because I don’t want her back, but because she might be a mother and wife, but she will always be my baby.
